Dave is well known around the club having been a Sun for the past 6 years. Dave has been part of 3 Premiership winning sides, and was lucky enough to be coached by Mervyn Neagle whilst at Walla Walla.

Whilst at The Suns Dave has coached two Junior sides (U13’s & U17’s), with his wife Renae and children all playing for The Suns.

Dave is now keen to take the next step in his coaching career and set his sights firmly on a Premiership win for The Suns Ressies!

The Northern Beaches SUNS AFL Club is pleased to welcome Steven Zahra – Senior Women’s Coach – Skills Coach/Assistant Rachel Simmons

Steve’s previous coaching experience includes Premiership wins for the Thuringowa Bulldogs in 2009 & 2010.To back this up, Steve coached the Bulldogs Senior Women to a Premiership win in 2018.

Whilst having a break from active football, Steve has gained Level Two umpire accreditation within the AFL Townsville Umpire League, keeping his skills sharp and his eye on the ball.

2022 Premiers.. A massive congratulations to our 12.5s after a nail-biting 3 point victory over the Tigers in the AFLT Grand Final held on the 10th September.

The kids played awesome football and really scrambled to ensure they kept the lead in the final quarter.

Congrats to Charley Bales on being awarded the Best on ground medal, well deserved you little champion.

Northern Beaches Suns AFL Club is looking for Junior coaches for the 2023 season.

Past coaching experience at any level is invaluable, but above this a passion for teaching the skills of AFL and building a positive club culture are essential. The qualification is a simple online course, with The Suns supporting you along the way.

These are voluntary positions for ages – U9.5’s, U11.5’s and U13.5’s mixed, U15.5’s boys and U17.5’s boys and girls teams. Now is the time to become involved in a rewarding family community AFL Club.

The Suns are looking to move up to the next step in 2023.

Northern Beaches Suns AFL Club, Townsville, is looking for Senior (A Grade), Reserves and Women’s Coaches to take our Senior teams to the next level in 2023.

Past coaching experience at any level would be invaluable and a passion for teaching the skills of AFL and building a positive club culture are essential.

The suitable candidate may be a playing or non-playing coach. Assistance will be given to obtain full time work (there is plenty of full-time work available), with a great laid-back lifestyle waiting for you in sunny Townsville, Queensland.

Remuneration: To be negotiated with the successful candidate.
